High School

I've decided to pretend I don't have baby weight and bad hair and go to my 20th high school reunion. I'm sad I won't be able to tell my mom about the people I see there. I'm not sure why I'm going. I'm curious, but I think even more I feel like it is an opportunity to restore my fuzzy memory or to better understand my past.

I am not looking forward to it entirely. It's too weird to adjust to whatever role people will still see me in from my 14-18 year-old-self. In my yearbook I was voted "Class Actress," and I am permanently in that niche for many people. At the ten-year reunion people with legitimate television acting careers seemed eager to prove themselves to me as though I was the measure of success for having played the lead in a bunch of plays in high school. That, plus the fact that I don't drink and the rest of the attendees were all decidedly sloshed, made for a weird night.

So, anyway, two questions:
1. Any advice for making this event fun?
2. What does one wear to a 20th high school reunion??

I went to my 10th, and had a blast. I did have to be coerced to go, but I am really glad I went. Wear anything that you love and feel good in, because everyone's nervous about what they look like/what they have or have not accomplished in life, and ARE psyched to see you, no matter what. :)
